WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REVISION AND APPEAL?

The Aggrieved over the Lower Court Order or Judgment can only approach Appellate Court under its Revisional powers in Section 397 of Cr.P.C. to set aside the Order / Judgment passed by it.

Otherwise, Revision gives a chance to the aggrieved Complainant [filed under Section 200 Cr.P.C.] to open his case afresh for further enquiry under Section 398 of Cr.P.C. provided the Appellate Court convinced with the Arguments of the Aggrieved and set aside the Lower Court Order.

Whereas under Appeal the aggrieved can challenge the Judgment of the High Court in the Supreme Court, the Sessions Court Judgment in the High Court and the Magistrate Court Judgment in the Sessions Court.

Otherwise, Judgment is a final disposal of the Calendar Case or the Original Petition.
