Be it Civil or Criminal, Family or Labour or Company, the Court has to progress with the case it handles stage-wise and one such stage is called Trial.

Otherwise, in Criminal Courts, a stage is set for Trial only after numbering of the Complaint as a Calendar Case [Court allows a Complaint filed by a private person / statutory bodies or a Final Report filed by the Police]. The Trial will begin only after the Complainant Police handing down the copies of the Final Report / Chargesheet as far as the Police Case is concerned complying with the provisions Sections 207 and / or 208 of Cr.P.C., and for other cases instituted by a private person or statutory bodies by invoking Section 200 Cr.P.C. the Trial will commence from the time of Accused entering into defence by making his personal appearance in the Court after receiving Summons.
