HOW SUMMONS IS SERVED TO INDIVIDUAL?

The Summons issued to the addressee shall be in writing, in duplicate and contain seal of the Court which issues it and bears the signature of the Presiding Officer or any other authorised person of the Court in accordance with the rules framed by the High Court. 

The Summons shall necessarily be served by the Police in the State represented criminal cases. Otherwise, it shall be done in accordance with the rules framed by the State. The Summons be served on the addressee if required to be personally and receipt of the same get acknowledged in the duplicate.  

When an addressee of the Summons not found despite enough efforts in tracing him was taken, in such case the duplicate copy of Summons could be left with a male member of the family of the addressee of the Summons and his signature be taken in another Summons copy.

Point to remember: Servant is not a member of the Family.
