CONTEMPT CALL AGAINST AN ACTOR BY HC JUDGE!

Judges are soft target of criticism as they not come out for their self defence of what they hear against them in the social media was the message appeared in the media last Saturday. The present CJI, in the presence of future CJI Justice Ramana, made his feelings known in Delhi, while at the launch of a book authored by retired Supreme Court Justice Banumathy. In fact, similar opinion was also expressed by Justice Ramana, when he spoke on the occasion.

Now, actor Suriya made a remark – while courts were conducted through video conferencing and students were allowed to write exams physically – A Judge of the Madras High Court took such assertion of Suriya as Contempt of Court and wrote a letter to the Chief Justice of Madras High Court for appropriate action.

Actor Suriya has been very vocal in espousing failures of the State. Though he not alone just a critic, but, he has done commendable work towards upliftment of poor children by providing them free education – fully sponsoring their education through his Agaram Foundation.

The deaths [suicide] of students in Tamil Nadu over NEET exams and prolonged agitations throughout the Country calling for cancellation of exams were attributed to the fact that Suriya might have made such utterances.

Otherwise, the fact can never be misplaced or displaced in the given scenario while manier States have not attempted to open their Assemblies and even Parliament was kept in locking mode fearing pandemic – an attempt of sort to keep the Legislators and Members of Parliament immune from the disease, Corona. The question is, why not such immunity be extended to those lakhs of students who appeared for the NEET and other Entrance Exams – a genuine question asked by the general public when batch of Writ Petitions were dismissed recently by the Supreme Court.
