On 19th November 1949, at the Constituent Assembly Shri H. V. Kamath [CP Berar General] made a speech of gratitude as follows;
Through several decades of struggle we have reached the goal of freedom, during those decades we passed through many vicissitudes of fortune and were guided by leaders many of whom are amongst us today due to Indian genius of struggle our awakening began with a spiritual renaissance which was pioneered by Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swamy Vivekananda and Swamy Dayananda. In the wake of those spiritual leaders came the political renaissance and the cultural renaissance of which the torch bearers, the leaders, the guides were Lokmanya Tilak, Aurobindo and Mahatma Gandhi and last but not the least Nethaji Subash Chandra Bose. Thanks to the providence leaders of those days, leaders like you, Sir [Dr. Rajendra Prasad] and Pandit Nehru and Sardar Patel are still with us to lead us to the goal which Mahatma Gandhi had in view. The goal that Mahatma Gandhi had had in view has not been reached and to lead India to that goal is the mission is the task of this Assembly, of the people of India today.
The whole of India took part in that glorious struggle for freedom in the extreme north in Kashmir my Honourable Friend Shaikh Abdullah took part and valiant part in that conflict. In the north west of India which approximately has been severed from us today Khan Abdul Gafar Khan and his brother Dr. Khan Sahib where in forefront of the national struggle – that part of India is no longer with us but our hope and our faith is that whatever differences between the part that has gone from us and the part that remains with us those differences will be removed, will be smoothened and our relationship will become happier day by day and Pakistan and India will live on the most cordial terms as years roll-by.
Comment: Mission of great men materialize one day or other.
