The fact is, till yesterday how many of us knew, who Danish Siddique was? I am honest enough to say that I never knew who he was! And, only after his massacre, I learnt to know him! But that’s not the point, the point is his killing was subjected to animosity towards his Faith by certain vested group in the social media.

While this vested group so passionately celebrating death of this 4o years old Photo Journalist naming him after animals and with filthy languages, unfortunately, the Union Government was silent on the death and worst ever atrocious inhuman behaviour of the social media.

I think Danish Siddique was fortunate that World Leaders and Global Media came forward in a big way to condole his death. Even the notorious Taliban felt bad on his unfortunate demise – and it openly acknowledged that it respects media otherwise Danish Siddique came between them and theirs enemy forces and received bullet injuries.

A question might be asked to me, how his death is so significance to discuss in faqsonlaw?

Those who are following this Editorial might be knowing it, I have been exhaustively covering activists in my Editorial to name a few; Kesavananda Bharti, Swami Agnivesh, Father Stan Swamy… The activists’ lives and deaths were discussed in this Column, unfalteringly. Because faqsonlaw believes in “activism of any sort when it works for humanity.” Religion, caste, creed or political affiliation are no barriers to activism. Hence faqsonlaw pays its tribute to this departed soul and pray almighty to rest him in peace.

By the way, why there have been so silent from the Union Government on the killing of this photo journalist? The fact was Danish Siddique worked for Reuters, a media conglomerate, and was covering Asia Pacific region. He was instrumental in bringing out exploding Covid deaths in India by capturing in his camera. He was the eyes for the majority of the global media worldwide, who were subscribing to Reuters. His photo journalism brought facts literally before the eyes of the people, not alone in India, but globally. His photos captured government apathy, lack of burial place and cremation facilities, and all those shortages existed in the form of medicinal oxygen and life-saving drugs….   

And all this happened, while the majority of Indian Media reached its death knell, no questions were put on the rulers of their mismanagement, it was Danish Siddique and Ravish Kumar [of NDTV fame] type of people who were burning their midnight oil and turned their lives as literal Chowkidhar [Watchman] of this Country. While Ravish Kumar type of Journalists spoke, Danish Siddique type of people were capturing avoidable Covid deaths but mostly happened because of mismanagement.

So now Danish Siddique’s death brought all of his activism before the eyes of the rulers and its supporters! While things were so, how his death be excused so politely by them? Hence 1000s of scandalous imputations were linked to his unfortunate death roaming in the social media – some even relating his death to that an act of retaliation by theirs God! Forget about self-respect, minds of people are intoxicated so much by the rulers that they even accepting imagination as reality!
