According to Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, if a person appears or brought before the Court for committing an Offence but not punishable with death or imprisonment for life and he is an age of under 16 years on the date of commission of such offence he shall be tried by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court or the Court formed under Children Act, 1960 or any other law in force that provides treatment, training and rehabilitation of youthful offenders.
Whereas now such offenders are proceeded under Juvenile Justice Act and specially formed Board comprising Magistrate and Social Welfare Officer take steps to rehabilitate the person by educating and imparting moral values so to make him a livable person in the Society.
